INTERNATIONAL COASTAL CLEANUP
Introduction
Beach Cleanups are carried out on a monthly basis by volunteers from Jeffreys Bay. People who are lovers of the ocean and the beaches who spends time on the various beaches for a range of various reasons. As part of a Dorp van Drome project, it was incorporated into the International Coastal Cleanup taking place on the third Sat of each September. See the JBay event registered here.
More than 18 million pounds of trash was collected by nearly 800,000 volunteers during the 2015 International Coastal Cleanup.
Mission
To clean up the Coastal area from Kabeljouws to Paradise Beach
Plan of Action
The Coastal area will be divided with stations in suitable areas where the public will register and commence the clean up operation from. Administration starts at 0800 and the cleanups will commence directly afterwards. Only bags will be provided. Any other assisting tools like gloves, clips etc will be required by residents themselves.
Water will be provided, but suitable protective clothing is advisable depending on the weather.
Residents will be invited to participate and the local business and Kouga Municipality will also be requested to play a role. More details will be provided later. Any person wishing to assist with the coordination is welcome to make contact.
