The Kouga Tourism & Creative Industries Department, with the presence of Councillor Frances Baxter, hosted the unveiling of the Mosaic Public Art project on Friday 24 November 2017 in the Kouga Tourism building.
The project was carried out in conjunction with the Eastern Cape Department of Sport, Recreation, Arts & Culture, whose senior representatitives were also present. This colaborative project involved the training of 12 local art students in preparation of this specific project. The intention is to identify multiple such areas all over the towns of Kouga as part of the beauttification of the region, Clr Baxter said.
This project allowed the students to make their mark in the industry with the intention of opening possible careers for them. The Mosaic was done on two levels at the Amfitheatre on Dolphin Beach in Jeffreys Bay and depicted the various aspects that completes the entire Kouga through their art.
The public is requested to visit the area in appreciated of the skills and initiatives display by these local artists. Their names are clearly depicted on a stone which is mounted on the site describing the unveiling by the Mayor of Kouga Municipality, Elza van Lingen on 24 November 2017. For sure a proud moment for these students.
